Job Title: Informatics and Bioinformatics Researcher for Qatar Genome Initiatives
The chosen applicant will have the responsibility of providing support for research and development projects in the fields of Informatics and Bioinformatics that are associated with different initiatives of the Required Researcher for Qatar.
Responsibilities: Required Researcher for Qatar
- Develop and implement pipelines for HTS genomes analysis, mainly WGS.
- Manage, analyze, and interpret complex datasets derived from various sources, including banked primary biological samples and publicly available data sets.
- Monitor and evaluate QGP data quality, analyze pilot data, and recommend potential system refinements using integrated management approaches.
- Author and contribute to scientific publications and manuscripts that promote QGP research agenda and research results.
- Attend scientific meetings, organize and lead seminars and workshops to increase awareness of QGP research services internationally, and bring new expertise to the research program.
- Collaborate with core scientific and bioinformatics personnel in related local institutes to establish genome interpretation services.
- Mentor junior scientists and help shape the policies and procedures of the group.
Requirements: Required Researcher for Qatar
- MSc degree in a relevant field with 8-10 years of relevant full-time work experience, 3 of which at a supervisory level.
- Experience working with highly confidential and personal information and abiding by stringent ethical and legal controls.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
- English proficiency is required, and Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a relevant field is preferred.
- Experience in High Throughput Sequence (HTS) data analysis, microarray data analysis, experimental design, data integration, algorithm development, development of sequence analysis tools, evaluation of analytical tools and technology, and delivering training to the research community.
