Internship Objectives: Indeed jobs Abu Dhabi Opportunity

 

The internship is within the Country Engagement and Partnerships (CEP) Division, focusing on the SIDS Lighthouses Initiative team. The selected intern will support IRENA’s coordination and implementation of the SIDS Lighthouses Initiative work program in the AIS, Caribbean, and Pacific Regions. The intern will contribute to the transition of Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) from fossil-based to renewables-based and resilient energy systems.

1. Assist in coordinating and implementing the SIDS Lighthouses Initiative work program.
2. Conduct research, gather data, and analyze information related to the twelve priority areas of the SIDS Lighthouses Initiative.
3. Support the maintenance and updating of the SIDS LHI website and LinkedIn page, including the development of media and outreach products.
4. Conduct research on energy transition and climate action in SIDS, tracking trends, key topics, and emerging issues.
5. Assist in organizing workshops, meetings, and events, including logistical arrangements and preparation of materials.
6. Prepare reports, presentations, and official correspondences related to the SIDS Lighthouses Initiative.
7. Update contact details of SIDS Lighthouses Initiative partners regularly.
8. Monitor and maintain a list of relevant events related to SIDS energy transition and climate action.
9. Conduct stakeholder mapping for SIDS and SIDS-focused initiatives.
10. Perform other assigned tasks as required.

Learning Areas:

During the internship, the successful applicant will develop a deep understanding of energy transition in SIDS, renewable energy opportunities, challenges, and solutions. The intern will gain exposure to tools and assessments supporting climate action in SIDS through energy transition. Additionally, the internship will enhance research, analytical, planning, organizing, and communication skills.

Minimum Requirements:

– Completed undergraduate degree or recent graduate enrolled in a Master’s or doctorate program.
– Preferred qualifications in renewable energy, climate change, energy policy, project finance, engineering, economics, sustainable development, international relations, or related fields.
– Familiarity with energy transition, climate change, renewable energy, and energy efficiency in Small Island Developing States.
– Experience in drafting, preparing, and reviewing documents, as well as coordinating with stakeholders.
– Event planning and organizing experience is desirable.
– Ability to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
– Strong time management skills, ability to work under tight deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
– Excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in French or Portuguese is desirable.

Internship Conditions:

IRENA internships may be remunerated based on individual circumstances. If not sponsored, the intern will receive a monthly stipend of USD 1,200 and an accommodation allowance of AED 150 per day. IRENA will also arrange and cover the travel costs to and from Abu Dhabi for selected interns living outside the commuting area.
