The Technical Superintendent (Marine) position at Admiral Marine Services in Dubai, UAE, is responsible for managing various technical aspects of marine operations. Here’s a breakdown of the job details and requirements:

Job Description:

  1. Safety and Technical Coordination: Ensure that safety is a top priority and coordinate all technical matters.
  2. Leadership and Development: Maintain close communication with the vessel management team, and lead, develop, spare, and coach assigned Senior Officers in areas such as safety, technical aspects, and cost leadership.
  3. Collaboration: Work with various onshore departments, including operations and purchasing.
  4. Vessel Maintenance: Responsible for maintenance, repairs, planned maintenance, and modifications to the vessels’ hull and machinery.
  5. Inspections: Plan, coordinate, and execute inspections, and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  6. Innovation and Savings: Identify opportunities for innovation, cost savings, and improvements within the area of responsibility.
  7. Quality Control: Monitor the quality of all service providers.
  8. Logistics and Coordination: Coordinate with vessel, Master, and Chief Engineer to ensure all spares and equipment are available. Coordinate internally with the purchasing department for orders.
  9. Audits and Inspections: Participate in vessel audits and inspections for technical matters in coordination with internal departments.
  10. Workshops and Repairs: Prepare for and arrange workshops, repairs, and maintenance, coordinating with authorized vendors and maker companies.
  11. Cost Management: Advise ships under control on budget and actual costs for technical items. Reduce costs by motivating the ship’s staff and improving cost awareness.
  12. Bill Verification: Check all bills for repairs/spares and maintain verification records through shipboard records.
  13. Wear and Tear Analysis: Monitor and establish reasons for excessive wear and tear, and develop means to control this onboard.
  14. Technical Knowledge: Possess knowledge about TM Flag and class.

Candidate Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering.
  2. Certification: Hold a valid Certificate of Competency (COC) of Chief Engineer (CE) or Second Engineer at a minimum.
  3. Experience: Previous sailing experience as an Engine Engineer. Experience with tankers is a plus.
  4. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Coordination: Ability to coordinate tasks and commit to deadlines.
  6. Independence: Willingness to work proactively with minimum supervision.

This role involves overseeing the technical aspects of marine vessels, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost control. The candidate should have a strong educational background in marine engineering, relevant certification, and experience in marine operations, preferably with tanker experience.
